Is Hypnotherapy Effective for Stopping Smoking?
Let’s take a look at the data:
The above graph represents a compilation of data from numerous studies about the success rates for various approaches to smoking cessation.
As you can see, Cold Turkey fares the worst, with a 10% success rate. This number is consistent across virtually all studies. Cold Turkey fails 90% of the time
Nicotine Patches and Gum is twice as good, with a 20% – 22% success rate. This means it fails about 80% of the time.
Chantax is slightly better with a 24% success rate (76% failure rate). And Chantax can come with some very serious side-effects.
Acupuncture has a 30% success rate. No negative side effects, though the standard methods involve putting needles in the ear, which can be a bit painful.
Individual Hypnotherapy has a success rate of 60% to 95%, depending on the approach used. The method that I use has been researched to have a 95% success rate.
Hypnotherapy uses Hypnosis
….as a tool to work with the mind.
Think of the mind as having two different parts that have different functions: the Conscious Mind and the Unconscious Mind.

Have you ever seen a hypnosis stage show? It looks like the hypnotist has some sort of power to control people, doesn’t it? The hypnotist has people running around like chickens and acting strangely. Have you seen an episode of the Mentalist? How about a recent CSI episode where a lady was given the suggestion in hypnosis that she would dive from her balcony into a swimming pool a few feet below? There was no pool! And the poor girl dove to her death. Terrible. And utter nonsense! Absolute utter nonsense. Read more ›
Who Am I?
I am your constant companion,
I am your greatest helper or heaviest burden.
I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.
I am completely at your command.
Half the things you do might just as well turn over to me,
And I will be able to do them quickly and correctly.
I am easily managed-
You must merely be firm with me.
Show me exactly how you want something done
And after a few lessons, I will do it automatically.
I am the servant of all great people;
And alas, of all failures as well.
Those who are great,
I have made great.
Those who are failures,
I have made failures.
I am not a machine,
Though I work with all the precision of a machine
Plus the intelligence of a human.
You may run me for a profit or run me for ruin-
It makes no difference to me.
Be firm with me,
And I will place the world
At your feet.
Be easy with me,
And I will destroy you.
Who am I? –I’m your habit!
So, what is it about the Placebo Effect?
Some people say: “Hypnosis is only a placebo…it’s not real”. I say “Of course!” It’s all about belief.

Yes, life happened. Maybe life happened to you too.
I became a product of a sedentary lifestyle, and junk food. Just like the majority of Americans. And I was unhappy.

Is hypnosis effective for permanent weight management?
Well, it has certainly worked for me! I’m Steve Axtell, Board Certified in Clinical Hypnotherapy, and over 15 years ago, I weighed 65 pounds more than I do now.
I took the weight off using hypnosis, and it has stayed off. And for many years now, I have been helping hundreds of other people to do the same.

We have known about the link between the mental aspect of sports performance and the performance itself. As far back as 1932, studies were done which showed that when people imagined doing a physical activity, the muscles that would actually be used in that activity were electrically stimulated. I understand ADD/ADHD from the inside. You see, I have the “disorder” of having “attention deficit”.
Well..I don’t think that it is a disorder at all. And, I find that I can “hyper focus” on something that interests me far better than a lot of other people can. It’s just that my brain works a bit differently than the “average” brain. And that’s OK. I surely don’t want to be “average”.
I teach my clients skills that are both powerful and effective in directing their ADD/ADHD. Read more ›

Every human feels anxiety on occasion; it is a part of life. All of us know what it is like to feel worry, nervousness, fear, and concern. We feel nervous when we have to give a speech, go for a job interview, or walk into our boss’s office for the annual performance appraisal. We know it’s normal to feel a surge of fear when we unexpectedly see a photo of a snake or look down from the top of a tall building. Most of us manage these kinds of anxious feelings fairly well and are able to carry on with our lives without much difficulty. These feelings don’t disrupt our lives.
But millions of people (an estimated 15% of the population) suffer from devastating and constant anxiety that severely affects their lives, sometimes resulting in living in highly restricted ways. Read more ›
