Trouble Sleeping?
How many times have you tossed and turned thinking, “ I can't get to sleep”; then worrying about waking up if you do go to sleep, and then becoming afraid that you won’t be able to function if you don't get some sleep. You say over and over "I can't sleep." It just gets worse and worse.
The National Sleep Foundation reports that one in four people in America take a pill to help with sleep problems.
It would be nice to think that a pill can solve your sleep problems quickly. However, sleep medications don't cure insomnia, and they can often make the problem worse in the long run. Some things to consider about the use of sleep medications include:
* Becoming tolerant to the medication: you may have to keep increasing the dose for it to work, which can lead to more problems with side effects.
* Becoming dependent on the medication: it is possible for you to come to rely on the medication to sleep, and you might not be able to sleep or to have worse sleep without it.
* Withdrawal symptoms: if you stop some of the medications abruptly, you risk withdrawal symptoms, such as nausea, sweating and tremors.
* Medications often have side effects, which can be severe: the side effects of sleep medications include drowsiness the following day, confusion, forgetfulness and dry mouth. . * Interaction with other medications: sleeping medications can worsen side effects and be dangerous with medications like prescription painkillers, other sedatives and alcohol.
* Rebound insomnia: if you stop the medication, sometimes the insomnia can become even worse than before.
* Covering an underlying problem: there may be an underlying medical or mental disorder, or even a sleep disorder, that if properly treated would provide better relief.
Unless there are underlying medical conditions, if you are tired enough and become relaxed enough, you will fall asleep.
Sleep problems are one of the easiest conditions to treat with hypnosis, because hypnosis is one of the easiest ways to relax very deeply.
And the only side effect is a good night's sleep.
Many of my clients tell me after our first session that they have never been so relaxed in their life. If you are in hypnosis and you are tired it is very likely you will fall asleep. In many cases, I can simply teach you how to easily go into self-hypnosis (click here) at bedtime, and you will have the skills to sleep deeply whenever you choose.
If you find that you toss and turn because of worry, tension, stress, fear, and anxiety, then it necessary to also work on developing skills to effectively cope with anxiety (click here). This can easily be done in a few more sessions, with the added benefit that you become generally more calm and relaxed in your life!
