Did you ever ask yourself, “What makes us tick?
That question has fascinated me for as long as I can remember. I was fortunate to spend my youth traveling the world with my military family, being exposed to a broad range of people and an amazing variety of cultures and beliefs.
During my teen years, I spent much time in the psychology section of the library (when I wasn’t surfing…waves, that is…after all, the Internet was years away). I’m one of the lucky ones who knew what I wanted to be when I grew up: I wanted to be a psychotherapist. I wanted to learn as much as I could about how to effectively use my mind to create a good life for myself, and I wanted to learn how to help others to do the same.
I continued my studies, and have been so fortunate to have been doing what I love for over 41 years. And doing it in Denver and around the world for almost as long.
I also teach my clients the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), which is amazing for relief of physical discomfort, relieving cravings, compulsions, fears, insomnia, anxiety and more.
I teach my clients techniques from Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), that help to retrain their brain for new ways of functioning at significantly higher levels.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy have been shown by a great many studies to be the most effective approaches for taking charge of your emotions, and I weave these modalities into all I do as I’m working with my clients.
I teach my clients how to do Self-Hypnosis in a way that is easy, fast, and extremely useful for making changes in your life that you want.
Why do I go to all that trouble and work? Because, after over 40 years of working with people, I am a believer in using as many approaches as are effective, and I love to teach skills to my clients that they can use to create a great life for themselves.
I begin with the belief that “no one is ‘broken’ and needs to be “fixed”. It’s simply that you haven’t been taught how to take control of your thoughts and emotions.
You have a wealth of internal resources, and access to many external resources…more than enough to live a life that is rich and full. It’s just a matter of having the tools needed to tap into this vast reservoir of ability, capability, confidence and genius that resides within you.
I see my role as being much more that of an educator than a “therapist”: teaching the skills necessary to overthrow past programming that doesn’t work , and then helping you to develop the ability to move forward in the directions that you want to go. It’s really about generating the skills to make choices and to create freedom in your life!
I always offer a free consultation so we can see if it would make sense for us to work together, so please feel to give me a call anytime.
